Terms and Conditions

The Shed Guru Operated by B L Peck Construction Pty Ltd ABN 50 651 461 504 Hobart, Tasmania

Effective date: 14 August 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of theshedguru.com.au and any tools, forms, resources, or assistants we provide through it.

The Shed Guru is operated by B L Peck Construction Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using our website or submitting an enquiry, you agree to these terms.

If you are registering as a contractor, separate terms apply. See our Contractor Terms and Conditions.

2. What we do

The Shed Guru is an introduction service. We collect enquiries from people planning shed projects and connect them with contractors and trades.

We are not a builder, installer, council, building surveyor, engineer, certifier, or planner. We do not carry out shed work, quote on it, approve it, or certify it. We introduce you to businesses that do.

Our service is free to you. We are paid by contractors who purchase access to enquiries.

3. Submitting an enquiry

When you submit an enquiry, you agree that:

  • We may provide your contact details and project information to one or more contractors in our network so they can contact you about your project
  • Contractors pay us for access to enquiries
  • More than one contractor may receive your enquiry and contact you
  • The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge

You are under no obligation to engage any contractor we introduce you to, and you will never be charged by us.

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

4. What we check, and what we do not

We check a contractor’s ABN and, where applicable, their licence details at the time they register with us.

We do not:

  • Monitor licences or insurance on an ongoing basis
  • Inspect, supervise, or assess a contractor’s work
  • Guarantee the quality, timeliness, pricing, or conduct of any contractor
  • Endorse or stand behind any contractor’s work

Before engaging any contractor, you should carry out your own checks. That includes confirming their licence is current, confirming they hold appropriate insurance, checking references, and obtaining a written quote and contract.

5. Your agreement with a contractor is yours

Any agreement you enter into with a contractor is between you and that contractor. We are not a party to it.

We are not responsible for:

  • The work a contractor carries out
  • Pricing, quotes, or contracts
  • Delays, defects, or disputes
  • Any approvals, permits, or certifications
  • Any loss or damage arising from a contractor’s work or conduct

If you have a dispute with a contractor, you need to take it up with them directly.

We do want to hear about it. If you have a poor experience with a contractor we introduced you to, please tell us at support@theshedguru.com.au. We use that feedback to decide who we continue working with.

6. No guarantee of a match

We do not guarantee that we will find a contractor for your project, that any contractor will contact you, or that you will receive a quote.

Our coverage varies by location and trade. If we do not have someone suitable in your area, we will tell you.

7. Information on our website

The guides, resources, articles, pricing examples, and other information on our website are general in nature. They are not professional, legal, planning, engineering, building surveying, or financial advice, and they are not specific to your site or project.

Any pricing, cost ranges, or budget figures we publish are general guides only. They are not quotes, offers, or binding estimates. Actual pricing varies with shed size and design, wind region and engineering, site access, slab and footing requirements, excavation, delivery location, installation scope, inclusions and upgrades, and market conditions.

For accurate pricing, request a formal quote.

8. Approvals and compliance are your responsibility

It is your responsibility to confirm what approvals, permits, notifications, and compliance steps apply to your project.

Planning rules, building requirements, engineering requirements, setbacks, overlays, easements, bushfire and flood constraints, and other site factors vary by property and location.

Nothing on our website removes the need to:

  • Check with your local council where required
  • Speak with a building surveyor or certifier where required
  • Obtain engineering or site-specific advice where required
  • Confirm zoning, overlays, setbacks, and fire separation
  • Obtain any approvals or documentation required for your build

9. AI assistant

Our website, portal, or software may include an AI-powered assistant to help with general shed-related guidance and next steps.

General information only. The assistant provides general guidance. It is not professional, legal, planning, engineering, building surveying, financial, or site-specific advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional or the relevant authority.

Not a council, surveyor, engineer, or builder. It does not approve works, issue permits, confirm compliance, or determine whether your project is exempt, low risk, notifiable, permit-required, or otherwise suitable for your site.

No guarantee of accuracy. AI-generated responses can be incomplete, out of date, oversimplified, or wrong. We do not guarantee that the information is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your circumstances, or that it reflects current laws, codes, council practices, supplier pricing, engineering requirements, or approval pathways. You use the assistant at your own discretion and risk.

Pricing guidance only. Any figures the assistant gives are general guides, not quotes or binding estimates.

Your responsibility. Use the assistant as a starting point. Independently verify anything important before acting on it, provide accurate information, avoid entering sensitive personal information unless it is necessary through an official form, and seek professional advice where needed.

Third party links. The assistant may direct you to third party forms, tools, or websites. We are not responsible for their content, security, availability, or operation.

Changes. We may update, suspend, or remove the assistant or its features at any time without notice.

Information you submit through the assistant is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Third party websites and tools

Our website links to third party websites, design tools, quote forms, and services for your convenience. We are not responsible for their content, security, availability, or operation, and a link is not an endorsement.

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent enquiries
  • Submit an enquiry on behalf of someone else without their consent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
  • Copy, scrape, or reproduce our content without permission

We may refuse service or block access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.

12. Our content

The content on our website, including text, images, guides, and branding, belongs to us or is used with permission. You may not reproduce it commercially without our written consent.

13. Our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, cost, delay, claim, or consequence arising from:

  • Your use of our website, resources, or AI assistant
  • Reliance on information we publish or generate
  • Errors or omissions in that information
  • The conduct, work, pricing, or advice of any contractor
  • Decisions made before obtaining proper professional advice
  • Third party services, tools, websites, or providers
  • Any interruption or unavailability of our website

This includes direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are liable and that liability can be limited, our liability is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time by publishing a revised version on this website. The effective date at the top shows when they were last changed.

15. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. You submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tasmania.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
