Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

1. About this policy

This policy explains how B L Peck Construction Pty Ltd, trading as The Shed Guru (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information.

The Shed Guru is a matching service. We connect people planning a shed project with contractors and trades. We do not build sheds ourselves through this service, and we are not a party to any agreement you enter into with a contractor.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What we collect

When you submit an enquiry through our website, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • The address or location of your proposed project
  • Details about your project, including shed size, type, specifications, intended build start date, and budget range
  • Any other information you choose to provide in your enquiry

If you register as a contractor, we also collect:

  • Your business name and ABN
  • Your business contact details
  • Licence and insurance details where relevant
  • Payment details, which are collected and stored by our payment provider, not by us

We may also collect technical information automatically when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • Complete an enquiry form on our website
  • Use our shed design tool
  • Download a resource such as our shed design guide
  • Register as a contractor
  • Contact us by phone or email

4. Why we collect it, and how we use it

If you are enquiring about a shed project, we collect your information in order to:

  • Review your enquiry and assess whether we have a suitable contractor
  • Provide your enquiry details to one or more contractors in our network so they can contact you about your project
  • Contact you about your enquiry
  • Send you resources or updates you have asked for

Important: our business model involves providing your enquiry details to contractors, who pay us for access to those details. We explain this openly because you should know it before you submit an enquiry. You are never charged for this. You are under no obligation to engage any contractor we connect you with.

If you are a contractor, we collect your information in order to:

  • Assess and approve your registration
  • Provide you with access to enquiries
  • Process your subscription and lead purchases
  • Contact you about your account

5. Who we share it with

Contractors. If you submit a project enquiry, we provide your details to contractors in our network so they can contact you about your project. Contractors pay us for access to enquiries.

Before a contractor purchases your enquiry, they can see preview details — generally your name, the location of your project, and general information about the work. This allows them to check whether they have already been in contact with you and whether the job suits them. What is shown varies depending on the type of enquiry. Your phone number, email address, and full address are only released to a contractor once they purchase the enquiry.

Once a contractor receives your details, they handle your information under their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for how they use it.

Service providers. We use third party services to operate our business. These include:

  • Microsoft Azure (Australia) — website and database hosting
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Resend — sending emails to you
  • Google — email services, and mapping services on our website
  • Make.com — moving form submissions into our system
  • Our website host and form software

Some of these providers may store or process information outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Otherwise, we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any other party, and we do not disclose it except where required or permitted by law.

6. How we store and protect it

Your information is stored in a database hosted in Australia. Access is restricted to people who need it to operate the business.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and then for as long as we are required to keep it by law. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

7. Direct marketing

We may send you emails about our services, resources, or updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop at any time by emailing us.

We do not use your information for marketing by any other party.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong.

Email support@theshedguru.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee for the cost of providing access in some cases.

If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.

9. Asking us to delete your information

You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@theshedguru.com.au.

Please note that if we have already provided your enquiry to a contractor, we cannot delete the copy they hold. You would need to contact that contractor directly.

10. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking them may affect how parts of our site work.

11. Data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.

12. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at support@theshedguru.com.au. We will investigate and respond to you.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:

  • Website: oaic.gov.au
  • Phone: 1300 363 992

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
